Each Year I donate my time to host an event to celebrate the life of organ donors and recipients of the gift of life. In addition to my performance, audiences have been treated to guest perfomances by: Denice Willams, Everett Harp, The Emotions, and many others This year audiences will be treated to guest performances by Greg Adams, Howard Hewitt and others.

One Miracle - Celebration of Life (O.M.C.O.L.)- Mike Jones, kidney recipient and organ donor educator, was blessed to receive a kidney after waiting five long years. He refused to let dialysis stop him from leading a normal productive life. His donor was a Caucasian woman of Muslim faith whom he met while enrolled in a four-day Personal Self Development seminar back in February 2001. During that class, Mike was asked to make an “unreasonable request.” After being puzzled and further prompted to make an unreasonable request, Mike finally said to his potential donor, “Will you give me one of your kidneys?" On September 11, 2001, the same day America was overwhelmed with New York’s Twin Towers tragedy, Mike was scheduled to receive the “gift of life” from his donor, Patricia Abdullah, a white Muslim woman. Due to schedule conflicts with the surgeons, the surgery then took place September 25, 2001. Mike was told that it would take him in excess of a year to get back to his normal course of activities such as softball, racquetball, and walking. However, he was able to do these things within 6 months of his transplant. In July 2002, Mike participated in the Dina LaVigna Breath of Life Triathlon Relay where he rode 24.8 miles on his bicycle. September 25, 2002, he celebrated his One Year Anniversary as a “Gift of Life” recipient where he helped raise money for the SALUD Foundation to open the first public dialysis center in South Africa. He is also working on his autobiography titled, “One Miracle – A Celebration Of Life.” His dream is to educate people on how to give the “gift of life” (i.e. kidney, liver, bone marrow or blood transfusion) and remain healthy in the process by opening his own foundation. On March 9, 2003, Mike celebrated the launch of his dream – the One Miracle Celebration of Life Foundation (OMCOL). To help celebrate the launch of his new foundation, he hosted “An Evening of Jazz” with Paul Jackson, Jr. and Friends at Spaghettini’s in Seal Beach. Proceeds went to the One Miracle Celebration of Life Foundation. Since then, Mike has been involved in speaking to kidney patients all over on how they can be diagnosed with kidney disease and live a normal healthy lifestyle. The reason for that is a person that has been through the trials and tribulations of kidney disease can relate to others. If you have never had the disease before, it is difficult to understand what that patient is going through. There are over 60,000 patients on dialysis and only a small percentage of those are waiting for a transplant. And on a yearly basis over 6,000 Americans lose their battle with kidney disease whether they are on dialysis or not. That is amazing. My band and I had an opportunity to play at the Fairfield Center for Creative Arts Fairfield CA. We were co-billed with the Second Planet Band which is well known to and appreciated by Northern California audiences. My Manager, who is also my Dad, conversed with a member of the band Alex Dedal regarding the band performance and their excellent Web Site (2ndplanet.net) which Alex had designed. After discussions regarding changes which my Dad and I had planned for pauljacksonjr.com, Alex volunteered to help us make the desired changes. Thank you Alex for the many additions and improvements to my web site. Those of you who are looking for an outstanding pianist and/or an incredible web designer, should definitely visit Alex at dedalink.com (web design) and alexdedal.com (music).

Many of the changes to this site resulted from comments by my many fans. Therefore we have included the “Fan Request.” The message board contains many requests for a list of equipment that I use. This information is now provided in the fan request section. Some of the changes on the music pages address suggestions and comments made by a fan from Denmark. These changes will make it easy for music clips of my earlier releases to be heard by fans in Scandinavian and other countries. Thanks Frans! As we continue to receive your messages and/or other communications we will see if updates to this site would be appropriate.

I try to spend time after my live performances conversing with fans and signing CD(s). I am pleased that often fans bring lining notes from previous CD(s) for signing. In a message posted Sept 13, a fan from Rockford IL said he had all of my CD(s) except one. Many of my fans have or would like to have a collection of my previous releases. However, the earliest releases are very scarce. My management would like to get an idea regarding which of my releases have been purchased by and are in the collections of my fans. Please let us know which CD(s)/Albums you have by emailing my management at Lasalle Mgmt@cox.net Please provide: your name and email address and tell us which Paul Jackson Jr CD(s)/albums are part of your music collection. Hopefully my management will be able to figure out a way to expand your collections. It would also be helpful if you could also indicate whether you purchased them at a live performance or retail outlet (let us know which store if possible)

Back in my Atlantic Records days, I teamed with label mates Pianist Bobby Lyle and Saxophonist Gerald Albright touring internationally as “The Atlantic All Stars”.

Many of you have heard my rendition of “Never Too Much” from the tribute to Luther Van Dross CD, “Forever, For Always, For Luther”. I am happy to have participated on this collaborative effort which included many super stars. More importantly, I am extremely happy to have provided this tribute, since Luther and I were personal friends. I have participated on many of his releases and I am so happy and proud to say that at one time, when I was stumbling for a proper background for my second release, I called Luther and he promptly jumped into his car, drove to my studio, and provided a background track for me at no charge. I have never forgotten his generosity and his just being a nice person.

Please watch television for the various specials. I will be “plucking my guitar” at the UNCF Television special. Check your local listings for air time. I believe it will be in January. Also check your local listings to see when the BET Anniversary show is airing.

We love hearing from you so visit our website regularly, tell others, and please leave us your messages. God Bless!

P.S. Hey you guys! Please hop on a plane to join me and my band at Disney World in Orlando, Florida and celebrate New Year’s Eve and New Year’s with us. We will be performing at least two shows! Hoping to see you!
